To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Shed 7’s landmark album ‘A Maximum High’ the band are releasing a collectors edition EP featuring brand new versions of some of their most popular hits.
The CD is strictly limited to 777 hand numbered copies and will be on sale from Monday November 7th, exclusively via the band’s official website (www.shedseven.com). The EP will also be available via iTunes and all major download sites.
Shed 7 returned to the studio in September, the first time they’ve recorded together in nearly a decade. With the addition of a string section, they’ve reworked four of their biggest selling singles; On Standby, Going For Gold, Bully Boy and Chasing Rainbows. Radio One have supported the release, with breakfast show presenter Chris Moyles playing Chasing Rainbows on his show.
"It was great to get back in the studio and take another look at songs we've perhaps become a bit over familiar with. It seems fitting to have something to mark the album's anniversary and tie in with the tour,” says front man Rick Witter.
“Some of the versions are fairly true to the originals whereas others have had a more radical overhaul. A version of Bully Boy featuring spoons and a fiddle is probably not what we originally planned!"
The band embark on a major UK tour late November / December, and have added extra nights in Manchester, London and York due to exceptional demand for tickets. They’ll be playing a selection of their hit singles, plus album tracks from A Maximum High. Chris Helme, Likely Lads and We Could Be Astronauts have been confirmed as support on selected dates below.
“I can't believe 15 years have passed since A Maximum High and it will be good to revisit one or two songs that have been untouched for many years. We've got a few tricks up our sleeve for this tour, we want to be doing something a bit different each time we go out. We'll also be playing the hits you'd expect to hear, it wouldn't be a Shed gig without Chasing Rainbows would it?!"
"In those days it was all Top of the Pops, Chris Evans, Richard and Judy and flying around the world. Obviously a lot's changed in 15 years but hopefully we've proved that good songs played by a good band stand the test of time and I still feel the stage is where I'm meant to be. Shed gigs are somewhere people can lose themselves and sing their hearts out for 2 hours. See you at the front....." added Rick.
