Simon Cowell’s new girlfriend reportedly wants him to cut ties with his exes.
The music mogul is expecting a baby with Lauren Silverman, who is the ex-wife of one of his friends, Andrew.
Simon is renowned for staying on good terms with his previous partners and regularly holidays with former lovers Mezhgan Hussainy and Sinitta. Lauren has apparently asked him to rethink this tradition.
“Lauren has told Simon she’s not keen on raising a baby with a group of women on the scene and that she would prefer him to spend less time with Mezhgan,” an insider told British magazine Heat.
Mezhgan and Simon were previously engaged, with the star admitting he hadn’t been a good partner when they split. They remain close though, with his former fiancée and Sinitta accompanying him to the UK premiere of One Direction movie This Is Us.
Despite their closeness, Simon apparently understands he needs to put Lauren and their baby first.
“Simon insists they’re his best friends. He won’t get rid of them for good, but he’s willing to compromise for Lauren,” the insider added.
Jackie St Clair is another of Simon’s former girlfriends and it’s been claimed she and Sinitta are both hoping to win the role of godmother when the tot is born next February.
It’s unknown who Simon will pick, with both women apparently already raising the matter with him.
“There are a lot of women in his life and he is still very close to all of his exes. But it is Sinitta and Jackie who want to be godmother to his baby. It’s tricky because they really don’t get on. If Simon chooses one it could be a real blow to the other,” a source told Sunday People.
“They have both offered to babysit and are willing to help Lauren out when he is away working.
“Sinitta has already spoken to Simon about organising a ceremony after the baby is born. That is something he really wants.”
