L.A. Reid couldn’t help “cracking up” when swans wreaked havoc on his estate.
The music mogul is a judge on the American edition of The X Factor, alongside Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
Recent episodes of the show have seen the judges invite contestants in their categories – boys, girls, groups and over 30s respectively – to their homes, to decide who will progress to the live shows.
L.A. took his group of boys to his estate in The Hamptons, New York, and was keen for it to look its best. He thought that swans swimming on his lake would add class, but the birds decided the star’s swimming pool looked more inviting.
“L.A. has the most beautiful house, but the idea of having swans gliding on the lake outside sounded good, so he ordered some swans be shipped in,” a source told New York Post.
“[In the end] they were running around, flapping their wings and causing chaos. Their keepers spent hours trying to get them to stay in the lake. Then the crew joined in chasing them around, but the swans preferred the pool.”
The feathered creatures also ran around L.A.’s garden, causing their handlers to get stressed. They feared the music mogul would be angry at the damage the swans were causing, but he remained relaxed.
“Though the swan handlers were annoyed, L.A. was cracking up. He thought it was so funny,” the insider laughed.
L.A. isn’t the first star to experience problems with animals. Kate Moss once had her home taken over by a flock of doves, while Drew Barrymore was hounded by squirrels after they made their home in her back yard.
