Sometimes it just has to be said, however lazy it might appear. This writer could witter on about solid songs, punchy choruses etc. It’s just easier to say that Dubliner Eoin Glackin has taken much of the Springsteen template, added a few fiddles and Celtic ambience, and used it extensively for his debut album.

The lawyers won’t be called and while it can be a bit annoying at times; Morning Take Us Easy, You Are The Revolution and Ride It Out as the main culprits. To be fair he does shift away from New Jersey occasionally. The opening track Dancing Anymore and the uplifting folk of Hello Caroline are crackers and maybe a way to go.

Glackin’s voice is solid if non-descript though he does have a knack for sympathetic melodies as on Pretty Girl. And solid is probably the apt description for this album; the songs are amiable and pleasant, and very well performed. There is a blue collar earthiness struggling to get out here but the glossy production put paid to that, and as such most of the songs barely cause a ripple.
