Not much is known about this elusive new band, The Son(s), so their first self titled album is basically all we’ve got to talk about. This is good. Sometimes we forget that the music industry should be only about the music. Their debut is actually quite impressive. An album of Snow Patrol-ish pop-rock sprinkled with folk nostalgia and a good dose of electric guitars. Opening track ‘Dogs, Boys and Men’ has some great vocal harmonies. The first single ‘Radar’ is the most captivating song of the album with some great synths and deep lyrics. Each track is so carefully layered it creates a delicate and sometimes depressing mood. Maybe the album does need some more energy to it, a couple of up tempo songs to wake you up.
