Prog heavyweights Rush are still hitting the mark decades into their career. It’s no surprise that the Canadian trio are playing to sell out arenas across the globe after witnessing their show last night.

The first set opened with the classic Spirit of the Radio after a five minute tongue in cheek video of the band showing how they started back in the seventies. Set 1 was dominated mostly by their lesser known tracks taken from their latter career. We were also treated to a new song Rush will put on their new album “if it ever gets finished!”

Rush’s second set opened with Tom Sawyer and the pace was lifted for the rest of the gig. They powered through classics such as YYZ, Red Barchetta, Closer to the Heart and my personal favourite 2112 amongst many others. Needless to say, the band was fantastic and really churned out that extra mile in their live show.

The stage design was beautiful. Keeping in theme with their Time Machine Tour, Rush had all sorts of magical looking bronze props with swirling blue screens, looking like something from a nineteenth century sci-fi novel.

Closing with Working Man, the gig was a roaring success. Rush is one of those bands everyone must see and they will not disappoint at all.
