SZA was honoured with an award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame 2024 Induction and Awards Gala on Thursday.

The 34-year-old singer-songwriter was presented with the Hal David Starlight Award at the annual ceremony on Thursday evening.

The prestigious award, which was presented to SZA by the Hall of Fame's Chairman Nile Rodgers, recognises young songwriters who are making a difference in the music industry.

"I'm just beyond all of my wildest dreams," the Kill Bill hitmaker said in her acceptance speech. "I'm just so grateful. Thank you for seeing me."

"I swear, I'll be like, 'Oh I wrote this and I wrote that,'" SZA continued. "And (people would) be like, 'OK,' especially if you're a woman, especially if you're a Black woman. So to win this... It just means the world."

During the ceremony, the Good Days singer performed an acoustic rendition of her hit song Snooze.

SZA joins the ranks of previous Hal David Starlight Award winners, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Nick Jonas, Halsey and Lil Nas X.

The ceremony, held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, also featured performances by Missy Elliott, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, among others.

SZA released her last album, SOS, in 2022. Since then, she has won a number of awards, including a Grammy, a Billboard Music Award and a BET Award.
