Kanye West has blamed his anti-semitic social media post on alcohol.

The singer wrote his now infamous anti-semitic tweet, in which he said he was going to go "death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE," in 2022.

Now he's tried to defend his comment, revealing he was under the influence of alcohol when he wrote the post.

"I was drinking when I put up the DEFCON tweet," he said on Candace Owens' podcast, Candace.

"You wanna know what alcohol I had inside me? Hennessy. It turns us grey. The demons (come out)."

He added that he didn't want to talk about being drunk at the time, as he didn't want his comments to be "discredited" as drunken ramblings. He also said he still believes his remarks were the "truth."

The 47-year-old received global backlash for his comments, and lost several commercial contracts, including Adidas.

His loss of earnings from his lucrative partnership with the sports company meant he lost his billionaire status.

After his original tweet, he wore a t-shirt with the slogan "White Lives Matter" at his Paris Fashion Week show, before praising Hitler, saying, "Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler."

He later released a post apologising to the Jewish community, written in Hebrew.

It read, "I sincerely apologise to the Jewish community for any 'unintended outburst.' I did not intend to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused."

The post has since been deleted.
