Shakira has left the stage after audience members attempted to film up her dress.

The Hips Don't Lie singer was dancing onstage at LIV Miami to her new single, Soltera, when the incident occurred.

A video shows the 47-year-old stopping dancing, and holding on to her skirt with both hands as she shook her head at the people in the crowd, gesturing that she had seen what they were trying to do.

She then walked off the stage, where she was met by security in the VIP area. Fellow Latin singer Anitta, who appears on Shakira's song, was also at the event and could be seen asking Shakira if she was ok after she came off stage.

Fans leapt to the star's defence on social media after seeing the video of what happened. "That's truly disappointing behaviour," wrote one. "Artists deserve respect and privacy, both on and off stage. It's crucial to ensure a safe environment for everyone." Another agreed, "People are gross."

The Whenever, Wherever singer released her first album in seven years back in March, called Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which translates as Women No Longer Cry.

Many of the tracks on the album detail her split with her long-term partner, former Spanish soccer player, Gerard Pique in 2022. The couple have two sons together, Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine.

At the time she said, "About Voldemort, the one who cannot be named? I hope this is the last song I write about this, and about him. I felt like there was still something there, stuck in my throat, and I needed to get it out. I played it to the head of marketing at Sony and he started crying. I'd never seen a man cry in my studio before."
