Every week, Music News and Liberty Music look at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.
Ackerman:
New York rockers, Ackerman have released their newest creation, Work In Finance, where the track’s blend of synth rock instrumentation alongside dreamy vocals create something of euphoria. The trio were forced into a new way of releasing their music with the current climate affecting a possible album and a small tour to promote that album, but now with the release of Work in Finance, it’s clear to see that the glossy production keeps a balance between rock and synth feels.
ADAL:
ADAL has returned with a fresh new pop creation ‘Youth’ where he blends dreamy and emotional lyrics with electro-pop production in this iconic synth pop hit. When it comes to ADAL’s music, there is always a twist and turn. Longtime collaborator and friend Maddox Jones has brought in the soulful, but futuristic vocals from James Hopcutt to collectively create his signature theme of honest and open lyrics, subjects around escapism, romanticism and lovers on the run. The latest track from the talented artist is all about two people coming together on a wild night of wonder, love and imagination.
WANYI:
Singer-songwriter WANYI creates music that is candid and intrinsically human at its core. Using love as her artistic inspiration, her debut release “Meet Me Tonight” details the ubiquitous experience of love and romance. The talented artist started writing her own songs when she was just ten years old whilst growing up in Hong Kong, she always felt that music was an artform of security and companionship. Having been influenced by the likes of Troye Sivan, Ariana Grande and Carly Rae Jepson over the years, it was beautiful to see the slick pop rhythms that are filled with rich 80’s and 90’s feels. With a string of new releases to follow throughout the year, “Meet Me Tonight” is a stark indication of an artist who is confidently discovering her sound.
Rebecca Phillips:
Rebecca Phillips is a bold artist who enjoys confronting the obscure and outfront uncomfortable in her music. The new video, Silicone Skin, plays with the human obsession for technological progression. Rebecca juxtaposes this with our innate and inevitable vulnerability. The London based creative has been recognised by the likes of Complex, Hypebeast and Radio 1 XTRA, but she doesn’t let that stop her from focusing on her work in fashion. The latest track tells a tale of a character's journey to create a perfect clone of her ex, where it explores experimental takes on R&B.
Lissy Taylor:
UK songwriter, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, but formed in Kentucky, Lissy Taylor has released the latest edition of her discography with a new track and video. The laid back vocals alongside beautifully synchronized guitars and beats allow for Lana Del Rey vibes on the new track, Wildflowers. The track is all about celebrations of life blossoming into something beautiful, it’s about forgetting about the things that weigh you down. The new music is all about growing to become something far more than what is expected of you. It is allowing yourself to flourish.
