Beloved baroque-pop ensemble The Divine Comedy are making a much-anticipated return to the Barbican Hall this autumn with two exclusive performances on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October 2025. Led by the inimitable Neil Hannon, the group will be showcasing material from their forthcoming album Rainy Sunday Afternoon—their first studio release in over six years.

Following the critically acclaimed Office Politics (2019) and Hannon’s recent success penning original songs for 2024’s cinematic hit Wonka, Rainy Sunday Afternoon (out 19 September via Divine Comedy Records) sees the band diving deep into orchestral pop territory. Written, arranged, and produced entirely by Hannon and recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, the album is a reflective and lushly orchestrated work exploring themes of memory, mortality, and the quiet chaos of contemporary life.

This pair of Barbican shows marks The Divine Comedy’s first appearance at the venue since their sold-out five-night retrospective in 2022. Fans can expect a rich tapestry of sound, storytelling, and stagecraft—hallmarks of Hannon’s distinctive live performances. The setlist will include new tracks from Rainy Sunday Afternoon, including the recently unveiled single Achilles, alongside select gems from their vast discography.

Tickets start at £25 (plus booking fee) and are expected to sell quickly for what promises to be one of the standout live music events of the year.
